The Jakarta Globe – Jakarta. Chief Security Minister Wiranto has hit back at protester demands ahead of Friday’s (04/11)  mass rally in Central Jakarta against Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, saying their concerns have already been met.

“There is a demand for Ahok to be examined, processed. These have been answered by the president,” Wiranto said at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, before adding that it is an on-going process.

“What is the intention of the rally, especially if it causes unrest and disturbs people’s freedoms and jobs. It is the public who loses.”

The rally is expected to see 50,000 people from various Islamic groups, including the hardline Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), descend on Central Jakarta.

He reminded protesters that there are laws regulating rallies which must be adhered to.
