TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Head of Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Agus Rahardjo claimed that his institution is currently focusing on monitoring rector election in state universities (PTN) which hold considerable assets.
“State universities wih massive assets are in our radar,” Agus said when he was in Sepuluh Nopember Institute (19/11).
There has been indications that state universities’ rector election are not transparent. KPK, he said, is currently gathering data to scrutinize such indications without offering further explanation.
Agus added that KPK works closely together with Indonesian Ombudsman (ORI) since ORI received reports on the issue. In addition, KPK also relied on its Public Complaint Directorate.
Agus asked Research, Technology, and Higher Education Minister Muhammad Nasir to be concerned with this bribery case. However, Minister Muhammad Nasir claimed not knowing the university Agus referred to. He was also not aware of the type of corruption involved, whether it is bribery or authority misuse.
